An early review for "The Lost City" (UPDATED)

Mora last night was at the Los Angeles premier of "The Lost City" and offers a review at Babalú. Read it for yourself, but for me it's good enough that I may have to move up a planned trip to Miami, where it will be released April 28, to see it ASAP.

Mora writes:

It's a great movie of a new kind that has no other peer like it. It's not typical Hollywood drivel but real art. It must be spread by word of mouth given that the Hollywood machines had nothing to do with this and won't like it. But we know different. It's one of the finest movies of the entire year, a real masterpiece.

Meanwhile, more release dates for the movie, which stars and is directed by Andy Garcia, have been announced by Magnolia Pictures, which is distributing the film.

Michelle Malkin has a roundup of a couple other early reviews.

The money quote, and one reason why you will be reading plenty about "The Lost City" at Uncommon Sense, comes from J.B. Bendel:

It is well worth looking for. Since it takes on Hollywood sacred cows, like Che and Castro, this film will need word of mouth support. The film critics of the antique media won’t help. The blogosphere needs to get behind it.

And if you are looking for another reason to see "The Lost City," it does co-star Inés Sastre.

Ziva from Blog for Cuba saw the movie, too, and got to participate in interview sessions with some of the actors.

She offers some of her initial thoughts in an e-mail to Val at Babalú.
