Cuban police and other communist thugs have surrounded the home of Cuban dissident Jorge Luis García Pérez (Antúnez), who for more than a month has lead a hunger strike to protest abuses by the Castro dictatorship.
The blockade has made it impossible to Antúnez and other protesters to receive the medicines and other items they need to sustain their hunger strike.
"We do not have access to anything nor anyone, all with the deliberate intent of breaking our will and forcing us to abandon our strike," Antúnez said in an interview with CubaEncuentro.com.
As previously reported on this blog and other sites, numerous Cubans have been detained to prevent them from rallying support of Antúnez and the other protesters.
You cannot blame them for taking the risk. Antúnez is a former political prisoner whose character, courage and undying opposition to tyranny have made him one of the giants of the Cuban opposition.
Anyone who claims to be a friend of liberty and an enemy of tyranny would be proud to call Antúnez their friend, and their hero.
Claudia has a wonderful take on this.
