Despite the protestations of Cuba's most prominent gay rights organization, the Castro dictatorship did not recently sentence a dozen or so young homosexual men to prison terms of 2 years to 4 years because they are gay.
Sure, homophobia is de facto state policy, but these men's real crime is that they dared to express themselves, to revel in their individuality and not succumb to discrimination and dictatorship. That they chose to gather in a group made them that much more "dangerous."
Whether you are gay or straight, that will always get you in trouble in Fidel/Raul Castro's Cuba.
