In recent weeks, I have written extensively about imprisoned Cuban human rights activist Dr. Darsi Ferrer, and an Internet-based campaign to demand his immediate release, tied to commemorations of International Human Rights Day on Dec. 10. (You can read more about this effort, and how you can participate, here.)
Leading up to that day, others on the 'Net have organized a blogburst for human rights in Cuba, with the centerpiece being a series of demonstrations on Saturday, Dec. 5, in Florida, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and Europe. (You can read more about this campaign here, and see where a demonstration is planned for near you, here.)
Both blogbursts offer you an easy opportunity to let your family, your friends and the world know where you stand on the question of human rights in Cuba. With your blog or Facebook status or Twitter feed, you can lend your voice on behalf of those who have been silenced by one of the most repressive regimes in the history of the planet.
Shout out, "Long live human rights!"
Viva los derechos humanos!
"Free Darsi Ferrer NOW!"
Libren a Darsi Ferrer YA!
It's a simple message, but joined together, it will be impossible for us, and those for whom we stand, to not be heard.
