Agustín Cervantes García
Cuban political prisoner Agustín Cervantes García recently was beaten by guards after he requested medical attention for severe back and neck pain caused by the poor sleeping conditions at the Aguadores prison, according to the Christian Liberation Movement (MCL).
Inmates' beds don't even have mattresses, and the only blanket is a thin cloth.
When Cervantes, an MCL activist imprisoned since September, complained about his condition, guards pulled him out of his cell, twisted his arms behind him, handcuffed him and threw him against a wall.
Cervantes, though, insisted on having the final word, shouting, "Down with the dictatorship!" and "Long live human rights!
After the assault, guards took him to the infirmary, but doctors there said there was nothing they could do about his back and neck pain.
Or about the injuries inflicted during the guards' attack.
