Some two dozen patients at a Cuban psychiatric hospital froze to death in January, after a cold snap hit the capital city of Havana.
The visual evidence of what happened, the autopsy photographs — first published at the invaluable Penultimos Días blog and quickly reproduced across the Web — is even more horrifying.
On his face, you see inscribed the 51 years of suffering the Castro brothers have forced on Cubans.
On his face, you see that the so-called Cuban health care "miracle" has not been shared by all Cubans.
On his face, you see the neglect and cruelty that the dictatorship has inflicted on the most vulnerable Cubans.
On his face, you see all the lies the Castros have told Cubans.
On his face, you see Cuba.
The images are horrific and anyone with a conscience, with a heart, with a soul — that leaves out the Castro brothers, their flunkies and their apologists —surely gasped or squirmed or turned away when they saw them.
But please, look at them closely and remember and pass them to others.
Because to know what happened at the Mazorra hospital, is to understand what is really at stake in Cuba today.
