Cuban political prisoner Nelson Vazquez Lima started a hunger strike April 5 to demand transfer from a prison in Guantánamo to a prison in his home province of Cienfuegos; and for adequate medical care for his various health ailments.
So no one should be surprised that after a month on hunger strike, his health has worsened, as reported by independent journalist Ana Margarita Perdigón Brit.
A source told Perdigón that Vazquez had been transferred to a hospital because of his condition

UPDATED, 7:15 EDT — Radio Martí reports that Vazquez is "gravely ill," and that guards have beat him several times because of his protest.
