Cuban blogger Yoani Sánchez earlier this evening tweeted that Cuban prisoner of conscience Iván Hernández Carillo will be released from prison within hours.
An independent journalist, Hernández has been imprisoned since the "black spring" of 2003, and is one seven prisoners still in jail because of their refusal to accept forced exile to Spain as a condition of their release.
Earlier this month, Cuba began releasing some of the intransigent prisoners — some of them by force — allowing them to stay in Cuba.
Sánchez tweeted that Cardinal Jaime Ortega — the dictatorship's spokesman when it comes to announcing the release of political prisoners — had delivered the news to Hernández that he was about to be release.
UPDATED, 12;05 a.m. EST, Feb. 19, 2011 — Blogger Claudia Cadelo tweets he heard the news from independent journalist/activist Guillermo Fariñas.
