Angel Moyá, after his release from prison earlier this year.
Former Cuban prisoner of conscience Angel Moyá Acosta was arrested Saturday morning as part of a crackdown by the Castro dictatorship in advance of May Day festivities on Sunday, according to Radio Martí.
He was released later in the day but not before the secret police kicked his ass.
"They beat him terribly, they kick him about the head," said his wife Betha Soler.
Numerous other dissidents have been detained. At least one opposition leader, Eriberto Liranza Romero, was beaten as he was taken into custody.
"Castro fears ... protests on the first of May," tweeted activist Jorge Luis García Pérez, who reported that police were swarmed in his hometown of Placetas.
