Cuba prison cell, from March 2005 event in Prague
I do love the Czechs, even if they don't all look like this.
From Net for Cuba:
Prague, March 14, 2006: A series of public events to mark the three year anniversary of a major crackdown against activists in Cuba will take place on 16-18 March 2006 in Prague, organized by People in Need. These events will consist of a demonstration at the Cuban embassy, a march of the "women in white" and a symbolic prison cell erected on Wenceslas Square.
The events in Prague are being organized by People In Need, a private, non-governmental organization "that has implement relief and development projects in crisis regions around the globe and has supported human rights and democracy in countries repressed by totalitarian regimes."
Cuba's, they note without equivocation, is one of those regimes.
PIN writes:
The Cuban regime remains in power due to a sophisticated propaganda machine still tolerated by many of its people. For those who have lived under a totalitarian regime or can imagine its method of functioning, this situation is unacceptable. Czechs remember too well the reality of life under Communism, and also the value of support from abroad. PIN began working with the democratic movement in Cuba in 1997 by supporting those peacefully fighting the regime. PIN is dedicated to assisting the internal opposition, whilst pushing the outside world to stand united against Castro’s regime.
I do love the Czechs!
