Once again,Dr. Darsi Ferrer calls on the Cuban people to step up for themselves.
October 13, 2006Havana, Cuba
Dear Fellow Countrymen:
It is a matter of great pride to confirm that many sons and daughters of our nation are carrying out the duty of fighting for a different future for our oppressed country.
You, united there, represent an admirable example of commitment to the destiny of your homeland.
We Cubans suffer violation of fundamental freedoms and rights. We survive, buried in misery and the lack of opportunities for progress.
With the exit without return of Mr. Castro from power, it becomes urgent to prevent a dynastic succession that attempts to perpetuate the totalitarian regime.
The change toward a state of law in which there is justice and social fairness must prevail.
The transition toward democracy is the only option since it constitutes the only possibility of putting an end to so many decades of suffering and pain.
Those of us in the opposition movement are obliged to seek ways so that broad social sectores are linked to our struggle and accept the challenge of overcoming the fear that dominates and paralyzes us.
Under these conditions on the island, we have created the "National Patriotic Front" (Frente Patriótica Nacional), whose strategy consists in adopting civil disobedience in order to achieve our desired freedom.
We invite all Cubans to unite forces, and through concrete actions, let's work for a solution to the serious problems of our nation.
I wish you a historic meeting. And I reiterate to you that with your dedication to this common cause, you represent a large part of our hope.
Greetings and successes,
Dr. Darsi Ferrer Ramírez
Member, The National Board of Directors of the National Patriotic Front
