Cuban independent journalist Aini Martín Valero recently visited in prison a friend of her's, Manuel Pérez Soria.
Pérez has been imprisoned since July 2005, when he was arrested for participating in anti-government protests. He has never been formally charged.
Read her reflections on the visit here.
My translation skills would not do her words justice, but reading her essay affirmed for me not only that she is a brave woman and a brave journalist. She also is damn good at what she does, using words to perfectly capture the emotion of the moment, and the of struggle in Cuba for freedom.
