Here's information on something very worthwhile to do in Miami on Saturday.
From Cuban Democratic Directorate:
Miami. August 1, 2007. Cuban exile organizations held a press conference at los Municipios de Cuba en el Exilio to announce the “Day of support for Non Cooperation with the dictatorship in Cuba” which will be celebrated on August 4th. The exile organizations also gathered to publicly document the latest initiatives that have been carried out within and outside of Cuba as part of this campaign. The non cooperation campaign began in Cuba’s prisons and streets at the end of 2005. Since then, the campaign has grown within as well as outside the island, receiving the support of the exile community beginning in July of 2006.According to information received from the island, in the past months, acts of non cooperation of the Cuban people with the dictatorship have increased. These acts constitute a clear response to the call made from within Cuban political prisons for non cooperation with the repression.
As spokespersons of the campaign in exile, Sylvia Iriondo of M.A.R. por Cuba, Angel de Fana of Plantados hasta la libertad y la democracia en Cuba, and Orlando Gutierrez of the Cuban Democratic Directorate, launched www.nocooperacion.org, a website containing a chronology of the steps followed by this campaign within and outside of Cuba. The activists also showed the new messages from Boncó Quiñongo and Amaury Gutiérrez, Cuban artists that have joined the campaign. Previously, renowned artists such as Willy Chirino, Donato Poveda, Jon Secada, Lissette Alvarez, Carlucho and Marisela Verena have offered their support for this campaign carried out by the Cuban people.
This Saturday, August 4th, members of the 45 organizations and sympathizers who support this initiative will gather on the intersection of 8th Street and 27th Avenue in southwest Miami, to promote the Day of Support for Non Cooperation. During this activity, flyers and stickers with information about the campaign will be handed out to the community.
