Albert Santiago du Bouchet Hernández
Cuban independent journalist and former political prisoner Albert Santiago du Bouchet Hernández is again in trouble with the law.
Journalist Álvaro Yero Felipe reports that du Bouchet has been ordered to appear on Wednesday before a Havana court to answer a charge of "illicit appropriation," in a reported theft of a hankerchief belonging to a former member of Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement.
Du Bouchet said María Encarnación González Guerra gave him the hankerchief, and that he worries she is being pressured to testify against him.
Du Bouchet was released from prison on Aug. 5, 2006, after serving 1 year and 7 days for "disrespecting" a local police chief. Director of the Havana Press news agency, du Bouchet had earlier been warned that he would be imprisoned if he continued working as a journalist.
