Words can be a powerful weapon, especially when used to denounce tyranny. So when they are used against the Cuban tyranny, it strikes back hard, as Rafael Moultan Vargas learned on Oct. 15 when he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Moultan, who is not affiliated with any dissident organizations, was arrested the evening before after he complained to two police officers that in Cuba no one had a right to anything and that Cubans were humilated by the dictatorship, according to a report posted at Payo Libre.
After his arrest, Moultan repeated his condemnations at the police station, earning him a beating by guards and then a transfer to the Las Tunas provincial prison.
