Cuban dissident leader Alexander Santos Hernández, imprisoned since July 2006, was recently released from prison, according to CubaEncuentro.com. Santos, eastern coordinator for the Cuban National Liberal Party, had been sentenced to 4 years in prison after being found guilty of being a "pre-criminal social danger."
The CubaEncuentro report did not detail why Santos was released early, but it did quote Santos as saying that he planned to resume his opposition activities.
