<strong>Jorge Luis Garcia Perez "Antunez" is out of the hospital, where he was receiving treatment for the effects of a month-long hunger strike.
However, Antunez, one of the giants of the Cuban opposition, wants everyone to know his protest for human rights in Cuba is not over:
According to his wife, Antunez remained in the hospital for 24 hours in intensive care but on Saturday decided to leave, although doctors had recommended to him that he remain hospitalized. The dissident, Perez, and opposition figure Diosiris Santana on Feb. 17 began a hunger strike to demand “a dignified life for every Cuban, the end of death threats against political prisoner Mario Alberto Perez Aguilera (Perez’s brother) and mistreatment of prisoners,” dissident sources said.
Perez said that her husband was now at home in Placetas, and that he planned to continue his hunger strike.
“We will continue the protest until (the authorities) give us a response to the demands we’re making of them. We’ll continue to the end,” she said.
