Nelson Molinet Espino
Cuban political prisoner Nelson Molinet Espino went on a hunger strike last week, after officials at the Kilo 5 1/2 prison in Piñar del Rio tore down a curtain that had given him some measure of privacy in his cell, his wife Quirenia Guerra Lugo told Radio Martí.
His protest comes after officials reneged on an earlier offer to take Molinet to Havana so he could see his father, who is ill.
Molinet, secretary-general of the dissident Cuban Democratic Workers Federation, is serving a 20-year sentence handed down during the "black spring" of 2003.
