Ariel Sigler Amaya
Cuban political prisoner Ariel Sigler Amaya continues to waste away, suffering in very poor health.
Not that the prison doctors are doing anything to stop it.
His wife, according to a dispatch posted at Payo Libre, reported that has of Nov. 19, it had been 18 days since a doctor had examined Sigler, who is sick with a sore throat, headaches and a general malnutrition that has left the former heavyweight boxer's legs paralyzed. He has been hospitalized for more than a year yet there has been very little improvement in his health.
A nutritionist has prescribed a special diet, but that has been a fool's errand as in a Cuban prison, especially if you are a political prisoner, it is hard to find fruits, vegetables, yogurt, etc.
Sigler has been in jail since the "black spring" of 2003, when he was sentenced to 25 years.
At this rate, he won't live to see the end of his sentence.
