Before prison guards ripped the telephone from his hands, Cuban political prisoner Lázaro Alejandro García Farah outlined for Radio Martí the reasons for a hunger strike he started this past Thursday, March 4.
- To protest the murder of fellow political prisoner Orlando Zapata Tamayo.
- To demand freedom for all political prisoners.
- To end the cruel treatment of political prisoners in the Castro gulag.
- To alert the world about the danger he faces at the Boniato prison.
According to various report, García may be the only Cuban political prisoner currently on hunger strike, in the wake of Zapata's death.
