UPDATED, 7:45 a.m. EDT — Adolfo Fernández has arrived in Spain.

Cuban independent journalist Adolfo Fernández Saínz, a member of the Group of 75 imprisoned since the "black spring" of 2003, has been released from jail and expelled from the island. He was expected to arrive Friday to take exile in Spain, according to Radio Marti.
Fernández is the latest prisoner to be released under a deal struck earlier this summer between Spain, the Catholic Church and the Castro dictatorship.
In all, 26 prisoners have been released so far. There was no word on when the others will be released -- some reports have suggested they will all be out of jail by October -- although it has been reported some of the remaining prisoners covered by the deal have said they would prefer to stay in prison than be forced to take exile overseas.
