Four more Group of 75 political prisoners are set to be released by the Castro dictatorship and expelled from Cuba.
They are:
- Nelson Molinet Espino
- Hector Raul Valle Hernandez
- Miguel Galvan Gutierrez
- Jose Miguel Martinez Hernandez
A few random thoughts on this development:
- I am happy for them and their families that they will soon by out of prison. I choose to believe that the pain of forced exile is almost as harsh as what they have felt while being apart from their families for more than seven years.
- I am as angry as ever that the Catholic Church and the Spanish government kowtowed to the dictatorship and is going along with the parolees' forced departure from Cuba.
- If the dictatorship was able to arrest the Group of 75 in one fell swoop during the "black spring" of 2003, why's it dragging out their release over two months now?
- Remember those political prisoners who remain in the gulag, especially those who've let it be known that they want nothing to do with the Spain-church-Castro deal and would rather stay in jail than be forced out of their country.
