As some European diplomats argued that Cuba had earned closer ties because of the recent release of some 40 political prisoners, in Guántanamo there was again proof that the Castro dictatorship has not earned the slightest consideration.
The CIHPRESS news agency reported that four dissidents, including one of its reporters, former political prisoner Enyor Díaz Allen, were arrested Monday. Allen, who was arrested while walking to a friend's house, faces a charge of "public disorder," and at least two of the men, Abel López Pérez and Yoandris Gamboa Beltrán, face charges of "civil disobedience," according to the report.
The fourth man, Yordis García Founier, was arrested when he went to a police station to inquire about Allen, CIHPRESS reported.
Three of the four — Díaz, López and García — are former political prisoners, and thus if and when they are released, can explain to Europe how little has changed in Cuba.
