Whatever the Spanish government, the Catholic Church and the Castro regime itself might tell you, it remains the Cuba dictatorship's goal to wipe out the opposition however possible. Recently, it has tried to do that by forcing its most fervent opponents — those in jail because of their political beliefs against the regime — to leave the island in exchange for release from jail.
Osvaldo González Montesinos, sentenced in December 2008 to three years in prison, isn't biting, according to a report posted at Misceláneas de Cuba, telling a visiting State Security official that not only would he not agree to leave Cuba, he was also rejecting an offer to cooperate with the political police.
In response, the Castroite thug threatened to move González to a higher-security prison.
