Cuban independent journalist/human rights activist Guillermo Fariñas was under house arrest in Santa Clara on Thursday, a day after he and several colleagues from his press agency went to a police station to ask about five other dissidents who had been arrested during a "civic protest."
Fariñas said he and the others were arrested after they refused to leave the police station until officials assured them that the detainees would be released.
Instead, Fariñas was held in a jail cell for six hours and then to a hospital after he experienced chest pains. He was then take to his home.
