The remains of murdered Cuban prisoner of conscience Orlando Zapata Tamayo will soon be exhumed, cremated and travel with his mother and other family members into exile in the United States, according to a report posted at Miscelaneas de Cuba.
"We are ready, and with the ashes of my son ... we will leave, God willing, for the United States this week," said Zapata's mother, Reina Luis Tamayo Danger.
The family has permission from the Castro dictatorship to leave Cuba. But that has not spared the family from continued repression by a regime that has shown nothing but fear of Zapata and his legacy. For example, this past Sunday Cuban police prevented any non-family members from joining the the family as they visited Orlando Zapata's grave in Banes, in eastern Cuba.
"The repression, surveillance and isolation against this family continues," Reina Luisa Tamayo said.
ZAPATA VIVE!
