So you think the United States should cut funding for democracy promotion programs in Cuba.
And that you should be able to take your summer vacation on the island.
And that the U.S. should lift what's left of the so-called embargo.
Fine.
Just know this: Each of these and any other steps that might be taken to "normalize" relations only benefits a regime that arrests its citizens when they choose to exercise their God-given rights.
Capital Hill Cubans reports in English:
Five members of the Ladies in White have been arrested today by the Castro regime for demonstrating with a bedsheet reading:
"Long Live Human Rights."
They are Sonia Garro, Charito, Leidys Coca, Niurka Luque and Ivonne Malleza.
Their whereabouts remain unknown.
The Ladies in White is an organization of female pro-democracy activists, whose relatives have been held as political prisoners.
More "reform" you can't believe in.
Later, Revoluciond e los Gadiolos.org reported that a sixth Dama, Mercedes Fresneda, had also been arrested.
UPDATED, June 11, 2011 -- Payo Libre reports that a seventh woman, Yaquelin Boni, was also arrested, and was hospitalized with injuries delivered by police. The other six were believed being held at a police station, according to the report.
UPDATED, June 12, 2011 -- The seven women have been released from police custody.
