A day after the death Thursday of Cuban political prisoner Wilan Villar, the Castro regime released three political prisoners.
Dama De Blanco Ivonne Malleza, her husband Ignacio Martinez, and another activist, Isabel Alavrez, had been in jail since Nov. 30, when they were arrested during a protest at a Havana park
They were released the same day that Amnesty International designated them as prisoners of conscience.
The timing may have been coincidental, but probably not. The condemnation of Villar's death had been intention, so it would not be surprising if the regime figured freeing the three prisoners -- who had been the subject of an international campaign for their release -- would relieve some of the pressure.
Hopefully, the world will prove to the dictatorship that is is mistaken.
