Advocates of lifting all remaining restrictions on Americans' ability to travel to Cuba argue visitors will serve as ambassadors for capitalism, democracy and freedom, changing Cuba for the better in ways not seen during more than 50 years of embargo.
The reality on the ground, in Cuba under the iron fist of the Castro dictatorship, is much different.
An example of this was evident earlier this week when three dissidents -- Pablo Morales Marchant, Denis Peña Leyva and Gustavo Arabito -- were arrested in Old Havana and detained for about 90 minutes when police caught them talking politics with a foreigner.
