Two imprisoned Cuban journalists, Lázaro Pie Pérez and Jorge Alberto Liriano Linares, remain held in isolation as punishment for their reporting on conditions in the Castro gulag.
Pie Pérez has been in a punishment cell at the Quivicán since Sept. 24, after officials warned him to quit reporting on corruption in the prison. He has been on hunger strike since Oct. 1.
Liriano Linares, an inmate at the Kilo 7 prison, was thrown into a punishment cell on Sept. 26, after guards severely beat him. The same day, he started a hunger strike.
CIHPRESS news agency, for whom Liriano Linares is a correspondent, has more on how he is being treated.
