Jailed Cuban activist Antonio Rodiles, arrested last week during a crackdown on writers, journalists and other activists, faces up to a year in prison if convicted of "resistance."
Rodiles, head of the "State of the SATS" movement, was beaten and arrested during a demonstration by dissidents demanding the released of jailed lawyer Yaremis Flores.
On Monday, some of Rodiles' family were able to visit him in jail. They reported he was in good spirits, but that he had an injury to his eye and numerous bruises on his arms.
If the case against him goes to trial, Rodiles said he will demand prosecutors prove the accusation. He noted that none of the people who arrested him were wearing police uniforms.
