The Castro police were busy on International Human Rights Day, Dec. 10, doing all they could to cement the regime's stature as one of the worst oppressors in the world.
The Hablemos Press (CIHPRESS) news agency/human rights group reports that it counted 207 politically-motivated detentions on Dec. 9-10 across Cuba.
"The list of detentions is so long, it is impossible to include in this note," wrote CIHPRESS director Roberto de Jesus Guerra in a posting on the group's website.
A summary provided by Guerra shows that among those arrested were 118 members of the Damas De Blanco, or "Ladies In White," perhaps the most powerful opposition group on the island, made up of the mothers, wives and other family members of political prisoners. In all, the detainees included 129 women and 78 men.
