Yordanis Alvares Puig, an activist with the Cuba Independent and Democratic group, was taken into custody earlier this month to begin serving a 1-year prison sentence handed down last month.
His "crime"?
Hanging on the walls of his house, a banner proclaiming, "In Cuba, there is no justice."
That Alvares, who was tried and convicted on Dec. 11, is in prison for this "offense" to the Castro regime, is proof enough that he is right.
A fellow activist reports on Misceleaneas de Cuba that Alvares, who is from Güinia de Miranda in Villa Clara province, has been on hunger strike since he was jailed Jan. 6.
