More than 25 days into his latest hunger strike, Cuban political prisoner Enrique Figuerola Miranda has been transferred to an isolation cell at the Boniato prison in Santiago de Cuba.
Figuerola, an activist with the Patriotic Union of Cuba, has been in jail since July 27, awaiting trial on a supposed charge of "assault." As of Sunday, he had been on hunger strike for 25 days, demanding better living conditions and respect for the human rights of prisoners.
This is at least the second lengthy hunger strike the 34-year-old Figuerola has started since he was arrested.
