October was the worst month so far this year for political repression in Cuba, according to statistics released this week by the Hablemos Press (CIHPRESS) news agency and human rights monitor.
According to CIHPRESS, there were 763 political arrests in October, the fourth consecutive month in which the census was higher than the month before.
The latest numbers bring the count for the year to 4,203. There 5,503 in 2012, and 3,835 in 2011.
The October count was different than statisitics released last week by another human rights group on the island, but the trend reflected in numbers was the same: Repression in Cuba is on the rise, with the regime more frequently and with increased viciousness unleashing its goons to attack its peaceful opponents.
